Bookkeeper charged with theft of $170,000; Allegedly used money for breast implants

A former accountant at a camper sales business in Ormond Beach is accused of stealing nearly $170,000 from her employer over a three-year period, spending a fraction of the loot on breast implants and bragging about having lots of cash at her home in Volusia County.

Steffani Lariscy, 37, was arrested by deputies in Iredell County, N.C. on Thursday after investigators spent about a year examining records for Robbins Camper Sales and her own records, which were linked to a complex network of about a dozen financial institutions.

At some point in the investigation, an anonymous tipster told Volusia County Sheriff’s investigators that Lariscy had a lot of “unexplained cash at her house and had been bragging about it.”

“The tipster also said that Lariscy had bought some new furniture and also had spent $7,000 on breast implants,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a report.

The owner of Robbins Camper Sales filed a complaint against Lariscy in March 2012 after discovering a $1,000 irregularity in financial records connected to the sale of a camper.

Lariscy said she didn’t know anything about it and a hand-written deposit slip vanished.

Later, she admitted to taking the missing money, saying she needed it to help with her divorce and that she was planning to pay it back.

She took off when the owner said he was calling authorities.

Sheriff’s investigators seized bank records and other financial documents from Lariscy’s Orange City home and an investigator subpoenaed records for all of her banks from between April 2009 to February 2012.

“Last month, the audit team revealed that the total amount of money that they were able to document as being misappropriated from the business totaled $169,822.63,” the report said.

Circuit Court Judge Frank Marriott recently signed an arrest warrant charging Lariscy with grand theft.
