The Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA is introducing a Master of Science in Accounting degree. The new nine-month, full-time program is designed to give students additional depth of understanding in accounting and business than is possible in an undergraduate program.
The graduate level degree includes the coursework required for becoming a Certified Public Accountant in California.
“Pepperdine University developed this program to ensure that students are able to receive the additional accounting, business and ethics training now required in California,” said Dr. Michael Williams, associate dean of Full-time Programs at the Graziadio School.
“The business school is working in partnership with Pepperdine’s undergraduate Seaver College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences to ensure that there is a clear path for students who want to take the uniformed certified public accounting exam and receive their license.”
Undergraduate students may apply to the Master of Science in Accounting program during their senior year or after completing a baccalaureate degree from any accredited California college or university. In addition to an undergraduate accounting degree, candidates must have taken the GMAT exam and received a satisfactory score.
The Master of Science in Accounting curriculum covers essential topics for careers in public accounting, industry, government and nonprofit organizations; including ethics for accounting, advanced taxation, advanced auditing, research, accounting for non-business organizations and financial statement analysis.
All of the course work is designed so that it is aligned with the new California standards. These standards have already been adopted by most other states and the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy.
The University is accepting applications for fall 2013 classes. To learn more about enrolling in the M.S. in Accounting program or other full-time graduate business offerings, admission requirements and career services support, the Graziadio School is hosting Open Houses on the Malibu campus on Saturday, March 23, 2013 and Saturday, April 13, 2013.
